This morning, Uganda’s New Vision reported a sixth suspected death in the Marburg outbreak.

The Kabale District Director of Health Services, Dr. Patrick Tusiime, has discouraged public gatherings to decrease the potential spread of the disease. The Kabale University decided to suspend its graduation, set to take place Saturday, Oct. 27, until the area has been declared Marburg-free.

One hundred and thirty two people are being monitored for the disease. New Vision reports that Uganda Virus Research Institute has only confirmed one positive case of Marburg to date. The original five suspected deaths were buried before samples could be taken. Meanwhile, two suspected cases are recovering steadily.

The Rwandan Ministry of Health has issued warnings to its health centers, with careful instructions on how healthcare worker should handle suspected cases of Marburg.
