On the morning of Sept. 26, a Las Vegas woman was diagnosed with a case of dengue fever. The patient shared a travel history with officials, confirming that the infection was not acquired in the United States, but abroad. Dengue fever is not common to the United States, but in recent years the spread of the Aedes Aegypti mosquito, which carries dengue, is increasing.
Earlier this month Califorina reported the presence of mosquitoes, typically found in Southeast Asia, that can carry diseases such as dengue, chikungunya and yellow fever.
